Warning Light Above 212°F
An integrated warning lamp illuminates when the measured coolant temperature rises above 212°F.
The warning provides an additional visual alert, but it does not automatically mean every engine is overheating at exactly 213°F. Pressurized cooling systems can normally operate above the boiling point of unpressurized water, and normal temperatures vary by engine, thermostat, vehicle load and operating conditions.
Watch for continued temperature increases, coolant loss, steam or other warning signs. A light gets your attention. Diagnosis still requires a human, at least until dashboards become judgmental enough to do that too.
