Installation Notes
Install the included sender where it remains in contact with circulating coolant.
Before installation:
- Let the engine cool completely.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Verify the sender port uses 1/8-inch NPT threads.
- Use a compatible adapter when necessary.
- Connect the gauge to switched 12V power.
- Protect the power circuit with an appropriate fuse.
- Provide a clean electrical ground.
- Route wiring away from exhaust components.
- Keep wiring clear of belts, pulleys and cooling fans.
- Bleed trapped air from the cooling system.
- Inspect the sender connection for leaks.
- Test gauge operation before driving.
Avoid removing the factory coolant-temperature sensor unless the vehicle manufacturer confirms it is safe. The ECU may use that sensor for cooling-fan control, fuel delivery, ignition timing and warning lights.
