The thermostat, fan clutch, mounting bolts and coolant are not included.
Aftermarket AW5104 and Gates 45006 kits are sometimes sold with a thermostat. That does not mean the standard ACDelco 252-845 package includes one. Similar interchange does not guarantee identical box contents—because buying auto parts was in danger of becoming straightforward.

What Does the Water Pump Do?
The serpentine belt drives the pump pulley, shaft and impeller. The impeller circulates coolant through the cylinder block, heads, heater circuit and radiator.
Adequate circulation helps:
- Control engine temperature
- Prevent localized hot spots
- Supply hot coolant to the heater core
- Carry combustion heat to the radiator
- Stabilize temperature during towing and extended idling

Common Signs of Water-Pump Failure
- Coolant dripping from the pump
- Active leakage from the weep hole
- Dried coolant residue around the housing
- Grinding, squeaking or rumbling noise
- Pulley or shaft movement
- Mechanical-fan wobble
- Serpentine-belt misalignment
- Repeated coolant loss
- Engine overheating
- Weak cabin heat combined with rising engine temperature
A light stain near the weep hole is not necessarily active failure. GM recommends checking for leakage while the engine is running and the cooling system is pressurized.

Installation Recommendations
- Confirm the VIN, engine and OE number.
- Allow the engine to cool completely.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain and capture the old coolant.
- Remove the intake duct and fan shroud as required.
- Remove the fan and fan clutch where fitted.
- Release the serpentine belt.
- Disconnect the radiator and heater hoses.
- Clean both engine sealing surfaces completely.
- Install the supplied gaskets in the correct orientation.
- Torque all bolts to GM specifications.
- Inspect the belt, tensioner, idlers and fan clutch.
- Refill with the specified coolant mixture.
- Bleed trapped air from the system.
- Pressure-test the cooling system.
- Verify stable operating temperature and fan clearance.
Never strike the pump shaft or overtighten the drive belt. Both can damage the bearing before the truck even leaves the garage.

What vehicles does ACDelco 252-845 fit?
It fits selected 1999–2006 GM vehicles equipped with compatible Gen III 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L V8 engines. Major applications include the Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Escalade, Express and Savana.
Does ACDelco 252-845 include a thermostat?
No. The standard 252-845 package does not include the thermostat or thermostat housing.
Are 252-845 and 19195104 the same reference?
Yes. ACDelco uses product number 252-845, while 19195104 is its GM reference number.
Does this pump fit a 2006 Trailblazer?
Only V8 versions. It fits the 5.3L V8 and the 6.0L Trailblazer SS, not the standard 4.2L inline-six.
Does it fit a 2007 Silverado?
Some 2007 Classic trucks may use this pump. Most redesigned GMT900 models use a later pump, so verify the VIN and original part number.
Does it fit an LS1 Camaro or Corvette?
No. Although these vehicles use LS-family engines, their water-pump spacing, outlets and accessory layouts differ from the truck configuration.
Is this an OE pump?
It is an ACDelco Gold premium aftermarket pump backed by General Motors. It should not be described as GM Original Equipment unless the specific package says GM OE.
