This pump is designed for serpentine-belt systems that rotate the water-pump impeller opposite the crankshaft. That is known as reverse rotation.

A standard-rotation pump may physically resemble the correct unit, but its impeller is designed to move coolant in the opposite direction. Installing the wrong pump can produce poor circulation and immediate overheating while leaving everyone involved staring suspiciously at a brand-new part.
