Engine Compatibility
The Skunk2 Stage 2 camshaft is engineered for Honda K20A2 engines, commonly found in:
-
Acura RSX Type-S
-
Honda Civic Si
⚠ Designed specifically for the K20A2 cylinder head.
⚠ ECU tuning is required for optimal performance.
Skunk2 Racing’s “Tuner Stage 2” Camshafts are designed as a performance upgrade to lightly modified vehicles running the 3 Lobe VTEC K20A/ K20A2/ K20Z1/ K20Z3 and K24A2 engines or cylinder heads. These camshafts will outperform HOT factory cam swaps (mixing OEM cams) and Skunk2 Tuner Stage 1 camshafts from idle to redline with no loss in drivability. A great match for vehicles with intake manifold swaps, light cylinder head work, small changes in compression, intake, header, and exhaust or motors that have been turbo/supercharged and running up to 14 psi of boost. Tuner Stage 2’s require a simple valve spring and retainer upgrade due to the additional lift, duration and increased RPM range. Ideal for hot street cars and road race cars.
What the Skunk2 305-05-0225 K20 Stage 2 Camshaft Improves
Compared to stock camshafts and Stage 1 profiles, the Stage 2 camshaft offers:
-
Increased valve lift
-
Extended cam duration
-
Improved airflow at higher RPM
-
More aggressive VTEC crossover
These changes allow the engine to move more air through the cylinder head, which directly translates to improved horsepower and torque at higher engine speeds.
Our Tuner Stage 2’s incorporate Skunk2 Racing’s cutting-edge Fast Ramp and AMAX features, which are responsible for increasing overall performance, producing unmatched response from idle to redline. You can expect optimized mid-range and top-end horsepower/torque with peak power moved up the RPM band, producing a seamless VTEC crossover!
Ideal Build Applications
The Skunk2 Stage 2 camshaft is well suited for:
✔ Aggressive naturally aspirated builds
✔ Street/strip performance setups
✔ Track-oriented K-series builds
✔ Engines with upgraded intake and exhaust systems
This camshaft performs best in engines operating in the 7,500–8,500 RPM range.
Fast Ramp – The same technology used in Formula One racing, where seat timing is reduced, which results in additional cylinder pressure and more torque but without compromising valve-train longevity.
AMAX – A Skunk2 design that simply maximizes the area under the lift curve but without compromising reliability or valve-train stability. Skunk2’s profiles feature more duration than competitors’ at lifts above 1mm, resulting in greater efficiency and more power.
Recommended Supporting Modifications
To maximize the performance benefits and ensure reliability, the following upgrades are recommended:
-
Upgraded valve springs
-
Titanium or hardened retainers
-
Adjustable cam gears
-
High-flow intake manifold
-
Larger throttle body
-
ECU tuning (Hondata K-Pro or standalone system)
Supporting modifications help the engine take full advantage of the improved airflow created by the camshaft.
Independent tests have shown average gains to be in the neighborhood of +22-25 horsepower with larger gains in mid-range to upper RPM horsepower and torque! Tuner Stage 2 cams are an easy install but we highly recommend checking all critical clearances and degreeing for peak performance.
Expected Performance Gains for this Skunk2 305-05-0225 K20 Stage 2 Camshaft
When paired with proper tuning and supporting upgrades, Stage 2 camshafts can provide:
-
Noticeable midrange power increase
-
Stronger VTEC engagement
-
Improved top-end horsepower
-
More responsive throttle characteristics
Many well-built K20A2 engines with cam upgrades target 230–250 horsepower naturally aspirated.

Installation Considerations
Performance camshafts require precise installation procedures to ensure safe operation:
-
Degree camshafts accurately
-
Verify piston-to-valve clearance
-
Check valve spring installed height
-
Inspect for coil bind
-
Tune the ECU after installation
Proper cam timing and valvetrain setup are essential for both performance and reliability.
