What Makes the Godspeed MonoSS Different
This isn’t just a “lower it and hope” setup. The MonoSS line uses monotube dampers, which respond faster and control suspension movement far better than tired factory struts from the Reagan era.
Key Features
-
Fully adjustable ride height
-
Independent spring preload adjustment
-
16-way adjustable damping
-
Matched spring rates for balance
-
Monotube shock design for consistency
Translation: you get control, not chaos.
Lowering a Fox Body: Do It Right or Regret It
Fox Bodies respond well to lowering—but only within reason.
Recommended drops:
-
1.0–1.5 inches: Best for daily driving and street performance
-
1.5–2.0 inches: Aggressive street stance with careful setup
Drop it too far and you’ll introduce:
-
Poor roll center geometry
-
Bump steer
-
Suspension bind
Godspeed’s height adjustability lets you dial stance without destroying suspension travel. That’s the difference between “clean build” and “why does it drive like trash?”
Ride Quality: Adjustable, Not Brutal
Out of the box, the MonoSS setup is firm but controlled. The real win is the 16-click damping adjustability, which allows you to tune the suspension based on how you actually use the car.
What you’ll feel:
-
Significantly reduced body roll
-
Better chassis control over bumps
-
More road feedback (because race car vibes)
-
Still streetable when damping is set properly
Soft for daily driving. Firm for spirited canyon runs. Stiff when you’re pretending you’re at Laguna Seca.
Alignment After Lowering (Mandatory, Not Optional)
Lowering a Fox Body will change alignment geometry. Ignore this and your tires will disappear faster than 80s interior plastics.
Alignment facts:
-
Increased negative camber
-
Toe shifts out of spec
-
Caster changes affect steering return
Strongly recommended:
-
Professional alignment after install
-
Caster/camber plates for drops over ~1.25”
-
Proper toe settings to prevent tire death
Suspension doesn’t ruin tires. Bad alignment does.
Handling Improvements You’ll Notice Immediately
With the Godspeed MonoSS kit installed, expect:
-
Sharper turn-in
-
Less front-end dive under braking
-
Improved mid-corner stability
-
More confidence at speed
Your Fox Body will finally feel balanced instead of “floaty with ambition.”
