Harness sets are designed for use with a sub-strap. Use of harness set without sub-strap can cause serious injuries. The sub-strap holds the harness buckle in place over the pelvis area and helps prevent the driver from sliding down in the seat. The pelvis area can withstand 5000 pounds of load before serious injury where the abdominal area can withstand only 800 pounds of load so it is very important that the harness remains in the proper location. Proper installation is very important. Adjustment length- shoulder: 26 inch – 50 inch/ Pull-up lap: 38 inch – 80 inch /pull-down lap: 38 inch – 67 inch / sub-strap: 7 inch – 25 inch.

Pros:The pinch plates snap into the buckle very nicely without any force and also eject from the buckle via small springs once the lever is turned. The pinch plates also move from side to side a fair bit allowing for greater adjustment compared with some other buckle designs.Cons:The chroming on one of my harnesses pinch plates is very thin to the point where you can see the copper base plating showing through the thin chrome. Not a huge problem but it doesn’t look great on a new harness. The cam-lock buckle does not weigh 165g as advertised, maybe the housing alone does but certainly not the whole buckle! The stitching is not great in places but i’m assuming would be safe and as some other reviews have stated Amazon still seems to be selling harness that have short SFI dates. My two harnesses run out in two months!Overall i would recommend these harnesses. The cam-lock buckle works very well with great harness adjustment the quality is generally good (the chroming on my second harness is fine) and the price is also nice. It’s a shame Amazon is still selling sets with short SFI dates.

My hubby had me order these for the rock crawling buggy he just built and the work great. We have used them with the three point (without the shoulder straps) and with the full 5 point and feel very secure either way. We love the way they latch, it’s much easier than other styles.

As an SCCA racer, I don’t like having to change my safety belts every 2 years. The option is to purchase FIA rated belts which we can use for 5 years. They are the same belts just labeled FIA. The FIA rated belts are usually substantially higher priced that the SFI belts. To buy 6-point pull down FIA rated belts for a price comparable to SFI from other sources is great! I will continue to source race products from Amazon and Amazon sellers.
