Why Replacing the Full Fuel Pump Assembly Matters on MK4 VWs
Volkswagen fuel systems are extremely sensitive to pressure variation. Replacing only the pump motor while leaving behind a worn sending unit, clogged strainer, or tired internal regulator is how hesitation, lean codes, and drivability issues come right back.
This E8424M-style assembly includes:
-
High-pressure electric fuel pump
-
Fuel level sending unit
-
Pre-filter strainer (sock)
-
Internal pressure regulation components
-
OE-style housing with 4.8” flange
One install. One repair. Done correctly.
Product description
Safety & Installation Notes
Fuel pumps operate submerged in gasoline for cooling and lubrication. Aging pumps draw more current, generate excess heat, and stress wiring and seals—common failure points on older VWs.
Best practices:
-
Disconnect battery before installation
-
Relieve fuel system pressure
-
Replace the fuel filter after install
-
Avoid consistently running the tank below ¼ full
This assembly is vehicle-specific and plug-and-play, using factory mounting points and connectors. No splicing. No universal hacks.

I just opened the package and everything is as expected I will come back and leave a comment tomorrow evening update! I installed the pump and it works very well I highly recommend buying it because the quality is amazing for the price and you get the gasket also most pumps you need to purchase it separately. If I could give ten Stars I would definitely do that

Arrived perfectly packaged, on time. But its not until next Saturday that the mechanic will be able to replace it. Looks like a job any other New Beetle enthusiast will tell me I can do mysel but, nah, I won’t chance it.

2003 vw jetta 2.0 gas. Easy to replace if you have done it before. Must put rubber seal on pump but intall seal first then press pump into seal. Put rubber seal on from top , put pump in tank until seal contacts rim the slide seal off pump into place and push the pump into seal. Great pump, replaced in rest area parking lot. Great price. Very happy.

Worked well for about a month, now the gas gauge is not working. Very easy to install. You get what you paid for, I’ll recommend to transfer the gas gauge sensor from the old pump to the new one. Pump and housing still working as intended.
