Bosch Activated Charcoal Filters go one step further than particulate filters. Bosch Activated Charcoal Cabin Air Filters have a 5-layer design that includes an additional carbon layer that absorbs toxic and foul-smelling gases such as ozone, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide and hydrocarbons, and an additional cover layer for extra protection. Bosch Activated Charcoal Workshop Cabin Air Filters feature high pleat counts that provide greater surface area for higher filtration capacity.
Why Replace Your Cabin Air Filter?
BMW owners tend to “drive spiritedly,” which also means pulling in:
-
Road dust
-
Exhaust fumes
-
Wild mystery smells from the last track day
Replacing your cabin filter:
-
Restores airflow
-
Improves A/C & heating performance
-
Reduces odors
-
Protects HVAC components
-
Enhances interior comfort
If your E46, M3, X3, or Z3 smells like “vintage BMW plus decade-old A/C vents,” this is your fix.
Foam perimeter gasket (select part numbers where specified by OE) prevents harmful particles from bypassing the filter media. Rigid frame (select part numbers where specified by OE) adds stability for peak performance and long service life.

Bosch never disappoints when it comes to quality, and this cabin air filter is no exception. The activated charcoal does a fantastic job of filtering out odors and keeping the air inside my car fresh. The build quality is solid, and the materials feel durable, just as expected from Bosch.I installed this in my BMW E46 325xi Sport Wagon, and while it fits well, I did have to trim the side tabs slightly to get it to seat properly. It was a quick and easy modification, and once adjusted, it fit snugly and performed flawlessly.Overall, this is an excellent filter at a great price, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a high-quality replacement. Just be aware of the minor trimming needed if you’re installing it in an E46!

Overall: 100% satisfied w/the product. Recommend to any BMW X3 owner. 5 StarsPros: Bosch high-quality product at a low price. This cabin air filter is superior to other brands that I’ve used, removes any strange scents/odors from cabin circulation, and even reduces dust or pollen that might otherwise settle inside the vehicle. Self-installation takes only a few minutes and saves you from a $100+ bill at the dealership. Finally, the Bosch product fits perfectly and is otherwise superior to non-active-carbon filters.Cons: No cons to the product itself. Location for this filter is located under the hood, up near the base of the windshield. Easy spring-loaded removal allows for quick replacement but it can be a little challenging for folks with short arms to reach.

Fits perfect and easy to install! First one was packaged improperly by Amazon by placing in a box bending around another item, unfortunately breaking the plastic frame. Contacted Amazon and they immediately shipped a new one!
