AEM 24-6005C Dual Chamber Intake System (Gun-Metal) – Vehicle-Specific for 1992-2001 Honda Prelude

If you’re driving a 1992-2001 Honda Prelude (Si, VTEC, Type SH, etc.), you’ve got a car that still glows in the enthusiast world. But the factory intake? Let’s just say it’s more “tranquil commuter” than “high-revving sport machine.” The AEM 24-6005C Dual Chamber Intake System (Gun-Metal finish) gives your Prelude real breathing room: better airflow, sharper throttle up-top, and a deeper induction tone that matches what the car should have come with.

This isn’t a generic intake. The “Dual Chamber” design is engineered for the Prelude’s engine bay and airflow characteristics — mandrel-bent aluminum tubing, oversized Dryflow filter, and tuned geometry to deliver across a wide power band. AEM Intakes

  • Engineered to add horsepower and reduce restriction compared to OEM air intakes
  • All AEM Air Intakes come with a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter with great filtration
  • Guaranteed for the life of your car or truck
  • Manufactured in the USA

Why Upgrade Your Prelude with the AEM 24-6005C?

Because the Prelude’s engine wants to breathe and the stock intake is holding it back.

Here’s what this upgrade gives you:

  • Improved airflow thanks to the dual chamber intake design: AEM’s V2 system uses two different diameters/lengths to create multiple frequency sound waves to bolster cylinder filling across the rpm range.

  • Sharper throttle response, especially noticeable at higher revs and during spirited driving.

  • Enhanced induction sound — you’ll hear the Prelude breathe, rather than whisper.

  • Durable build: Gun-metal powder-coated mandrel-bent aluminum tubing, oversized Dryflow synthetic filter (oil-free, washable).

  • Widely legal: This part lists a CARB Executive Order (D-670-15) for some applications.

For a car that was built with performance intent, this intake helps bring it out.

AEM Air Intake Systems are designed to produce massive horsepower and torque gains as well as better engine sound when used as a replacement for the factory airbox and air filter. AEM intake systems are designed, tuned, and dyno-tested to fit specific cars and trucks.

Key Features of the AEM 24-6005C

  • Dual-Chamber Intake Tube Design: Two chamber sizes/lengths tuned to turn sound waves into cylinder filling pulses.

  • Gun-Metal Aluminum Intake Pipe: Powder-coated for durability + looks.

  • AEM Dryflow Synthetic Filter: Oil-free, washable, reusable, high flow.

  • Optimized Fit for the Prelude: Works with OEM sensors, breather hoses, emissions devices.

  • Lifetime Limited Warranty from AEM.

  • Installation Instructions Included — AEM provides detailed install guides.

These air intakes usually include an oversized AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration, and performance while allowing easy oil-free cleaning. Most AEM intake systems use mandrel-bent aluminum intake tubes, powder coated heat shields, and high quality hardware designed to reduce restriction and reduce intake temperature.

Performance Expectations

With the 24-6005C installed on a compatible Honda Prelude:

  • Noticeably improved throttle response and engine feel.

  • Better airflow across the rev range, leading to smoother high-rpm performance.

  • More engaging induction sound — fun without being obnoxious.

  • Modest horsepower/torque gains are expected (the dual chamber design specifically boosts the “area under the curve”) although exact dyno numbers may vary by vehicle condition and mods.

The design and components of each intake system vary so consult the installation instructions for more information on the contents of each part number. AEM manufactures a variety of intake kit styles including short ram intakes, cold air intakes, dual-chamber intakes, Brute Force intakes for trucks and SUV’s, and Brute Force HD intakes for diesel applications.

Daily-Driver Friendly

Yes. This intake is designed to be used every day, not just for the weekend:

  • Works with the factory ECU — no forced tune required for base benefit.

  • Low‐maintenance filter design (dry, washable).

  • Retains practicality, no major compromises in drivability.

  • Just check your local emissions laws if you’re in a state with strict regulations (though this unit has CARB EO number listed for many years)

  2. I HATE THIS PRODUCT

Great product, not complaints about performance (which obviously is the main thing). However, the thing is my air filter that came with this product is Red, not Black. This may not matter to most people; however, it’s clearly not red in the picture. This matters to me only partly because I am dressing my engine up with all black and gray accessories, and this really throws off everything. So I’m probably going to spend more money and change this filter out. Not happy about that.

It fit on my CB7 that has an H22. You may have to do some measuring if your battery is still up front.

Pros:-Easy install (especially if you’re replacing another aftermarket intake)-Makes some nice noises higher in the rev range-it makes the Prelude *feel* faster (but don’t expect any major gains)Cons:-I bought this expecting the piping to be smooth, like in the product page picture. Unfortunately, the welds don’t look to have been ground down. Facebook Prelude groups confirm that AEM is building this particular intake this way now. It doesn’t bother me too much, but I am taking a star off for the misrepresentation between the product’s picture and the actual product.-Possible heat soak issues. Hopefully the intake piping leading away from the engine will mitigate this, as it’s positioned in a similar spot as my old cold air intake (and the battery acts as a heat shield in a way), but it’s something to be cognizant of, should you buy this.

I wish I knew beforehand that the elimination of the OEM components isn’t recommended. Part of those components is the Idle air control valve. Now my car doesn’t idle well. It pulses from 1,000 to 1,500 rpm. Hopefully I will eventually find a fix.

Took about an hour to install by myself on my 97 Prelude. Sounds stock at idle but when you hit the gas you can definitly feel it pull and it roars especially when vtech hits. Very impressed. Dont settle for a cheap intake. You get what you pay for. Cant wait for my headers n skunk intake manifold to get here so i can unleash its full potential.

Finally received my AEM V2 in good shape on a 3rd attempt!! The photos with damaged and defects from the manufacturer were the first and second V2 I got from them. Both were sent back. Total BS! There’s no Styrofoam nor bubble wraps to protect the intake piping inside the box. It just sits in there flopping around with some brown paper as cushion which doesn’t do anything to keep it safe! First shipment came to me with the intake piping all jacked up flat on one side and that is the air filter end. Can’t even use it! Second shipment came to me with no damaged to both ends of the piping, but there’s this dent half way around the V2 chamber area of the intake which I just can’t do. For over $400 after tax, I expect better. Then, for my third try, it came in fine. Some slight teeth marks of some sort which looks like it came from when they were welding the pipe together on some areas, but that won’t bother me. So I kept this one as it was the best looking one with no dents or anything badly damaged to it.AEM isn’t what it use to be 13+ years ago. Quality of these intake isn’t even close to the older V2s. Now there’s this weld beads right in the middle of the V2 dual chamber of the intake as you can see in the photos; whereas, the older V2 doesn’t have that and looks much cleaner. Why didn’t I just give up? I really like how the V2 looks and shape correctly for our Accord/Prelude VS these generic eBay looking intake. And there’s a mounting tab for you to mount it onto the chasis VS generic ones. Nice and sturdy!Bought this V2 for my 1994 Honda Accord with a JDM H22A swap. Yes, even though it says for Prelude, this one will work on the 94-97 Accord with an H swap for those that are curious and may want one to get that clean engine bay look. That grey powder coat on the V2 matches my customed gun metal paint job CD5 too! I really wanted their older style GREY DRYFLOW FILTER to match the setup, but as we all know, they no longer produced those. They’re white now.

This is a great item, I put this in my 97 Honda Prelude and I could not believe the different it made. It took a little bit longer then i thought at first. But it was worth it in the end. The directions are an easy read and a great help. I wish you the best if you buy this in and put it in, you will be happy
