Mishimoto manufactures these hoses from high-grade silicone reinforced with heat-resistant fibers. The four-ply construction helps each hose retain its molded shape as coolant temperature and system pressure change.
Compared with aging factory rubber hoses, the reinforced silicone construction offers improved resistance to:

Built for Stock and Modified 4.0L Mustangs
The 4.0L Cologne V6 is frequently ignored in favor of the Mustang GT, but it remains a durable engine when properly maintained. Modified and forced-induction combinations can generate additional heat, making healthy cooling-system components particularly important.
A silicone hose kit does not increase cooling capacity by itself. It improves the durability of the connections carrying coolant between the engine, radiator and heater core.
Stable operating temperature still depends on the complete system, including:
- Correct coolant level and mixture
- Functional thermostat
- Healthy water pump

- Working cooling fan

Signs Your Mustang Coolant Hoses Need Replacement

Installation Notes
Never remove the coolant pressure cap or disconnect a hose while the engine is hot. Pressurized coolant can discharge without warning and cause serious burns.
A typical installation includes:
- Letting the engine cool completely.
- Disconnecting the negative battery cable when required.
- Draining the coolant into an appropriate container.
- Photographing the original hose routing.
- Removing the factory clamps and hoses.
- Cleaning each hose connection.
- Matching every new hose with its original counterpart.
- Installing the new hoses without twisting or kinking them.
- Positioning each clamp behind the fitting bead.
- Refilling the system with the correct coolant mixture.
- Bleeding trapped air from the system.
- Inspecting every connection after reaching operating temperature.
Do not overtighten the worm-gear clamps. Excessive pressure can damage the silicone hose or deform plastic and aluminum connections. Apparently, clamps also understand the concept of “enough.”

Will This Kit Fix an Overheating Mustang?
It can correct overheating caused by leaking, restricted or collapsing hoses. It will not repair overheating caused by a failed thermostat, weak water pump, blocked radiator, malfunctioning fan or combustion leak.

It can be used on modified 4.0L Mustangs when the factory-style hose routing and connection points remain intact. Custom turbocharger or supercharger cooling layouts may require different hoses.
