Compact Universal 52mm Design
With a 2-inch—or approximately 52mm—diameter, this water temperature gauge works with many universal gauge pods, dashboard panels and custom mounting locations.
The housing combines durable ABS plastic with chrome-finished steel trim for resistance to everyday scratches, corrosion and oxidation. Its compact construction makes it suitable for street cars, trucks, project vehicles, engine swaps and marine applications where dashboard space may be limited.

- Temperature sender
- Wiring cable
- Installation hardware and instructions
Additional fittings, adapters, gauge pods or wiring may be required depending on the vehicle and installation location.
Universal Compatibility
This 12V water temperature gauge can be used in many applications, including:
- Passenger cars
- Performance and project vehicles
- Engine-swapped cars
- SUVs and pickup trucks
- Motorcycles
- Tractors and utility vehicles
- Boats and compatible marine vehicles
Because the included sender uses a 1/8-inch NPT thread, verify the thread size and available mounting location on your engine, thermostat housing, coolant adapter or radiator hose adapter before ordering.
“Universal” means it can fit many vehicles. It does not mean every engine manufacturer gathered around a conference table and agreed to use the same coolant port. That would have been far too convenient.
Why Add an Aftermarket Water Temperature Gauge?
Many factory temperature gauges are heavily damped. They may remain near the middle of the display across a wide temperature range and move toward hot only after the cooling system is already struggling.
A dedicated temperature gauge can help you:
- Detect abnormal temperature increases sooner
- Monitor cooling performance during towing or heavy loads
- Confirm radiator-fan operation
- Evaluate cooling-system changes
- Monitor an engine swap without a compatible factory gauge
- Diagnose intermittent overheating
- Protect performance and track-oriented builds
If temperatures begin climbing, our guide to the seven signs of a failing radiator can help narrow down the problem.

Installation Notes
Mount the gauge in a compatible 52mm pod or panel where it can be seen without blocking your view of the road. Install the sender in a coolant passage using the correct adapter when necessary, then connect the gauge to switched 12V power, ground, illumination and the sender wire.
For an accurate reading:
- The sender must remain in contact with circulating coolant.
- Use thread sealant that is compatible with automotive cooling systems.
- Do not excessively insulate the sender from electrical ground.
- Route wiring away from exhaust components, belts and cooling fans.
- Bleed trapped air from the cooling system after opening it.
- Check for leaks before driving.
Always perform installation with the engine completely cold. Never remove a radiator cap or coolant fitting from a hot, pressurized cooling system.
If you suspect the factory coolant sensor is also malfunctioning, see our guide explaining how an engine coolant temperature sensor works.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this gauge fit my vehicle?
The gauge is universal and works with 12V electrical systems, but installation varies by vehicle. Confirm that you have space for a 52mm gauge and a compatible location for the 1/8-inch NPT sender.
Does it display Celsius?
No. This gauge displays temperature in Fahrenheit from 100°F to 250°F.
Is the temperature sender included?
Yes. The package includes the gauge, temperature sender, wiring cable and installation components.
Can it be used on a boat?
It may be used in compatible 12V marine applications. Verify the sender mounting location, electrical requirements and environmental protection needed for your vessel before installation.
Does it replace the factory coolant-temperature sensor?
Normally, no. The included sender is intended to operate the aftermarket gauge independently. Removing the factory sensor may interfere with the ECU, cooling fans, fuel control or warning lights.
What should I do if the gauge suddenly reads hot?
Reduce engine load and pull over safely. Shut the engine off if the temperature continues rising, steam appears or coolant is escaping. Do not open the cooling system while it is hot.

A universal water temperature gauge is a simple upgrade for anyone who wants more cooling-system information than a factory warning light can provide.
With its 100–250°F measurement range, illuminated display, 52mm housing and included 1/8-inch NPT sender, this gauge provides a practical solution for monitoring cars, trucks, swaps, motorcycles, tractors and compatible marine applications.
