GlowShift Tinted 7 Color Water Temp Gauge | 52mm

GlowShift Tinted 7 Color Water Temperature Gauge – 100–300°F, 52mm

Monitor engine coolant temperature with a wide-sweep analog display, smooth stepper-motor movement and seven selectable LED colors.

The GlowShift Tinted 7 Color Series Water Temperature Gauge features a black dial, illuminated red needle and low-profile smoked lens. Its included 1/8-27 NPT electronic sender measures coolant temperature from 100°F to 300°F, giving cars, trucks, performance builds and engine swaps a clearer view of cooling-system operation.

Monitor Coolant Temperature Before It Becomes a Problem

Coolant temperature can rise because of:

  • Low coolant
  • Restricted radiator flow
  • Cooling-fan failure
  • Damaged fan belt
  • Stuck thermostat
  • Water-pump failure
  • Air trapped in the cooling system
  • Heavy engine load
  • Stop-and-go traffic
  • Hot-weather driving

The sooner you notice abnormal temperature movement, the sooner you can reduce load or safely shut the engine down.

If the needle begins climbing above its normal position, our guide explains why a car overheats and how to find the cause.

100–300°F Temperature Range

The gauge displays engine coolant temperature from 100°F to 300°F.

That range covers:

  • Engine warmup
  • Normal operating temperature
  • Heavy-load operation
  • Elevated coolant temperatures
  • Severe overheating conditions

Normal temperature depends on the engine, thermostat, cooling-system pressure and operating conditions. Compare readings with the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications rather than treating one number as universal.

270-Degree Analog Sweep

The illuminated red needle travels through a wide 270-degree sweep, making smaller temperature changes easier to identify.

Unlike a basic short-sweep gauge, the expanded display provides more space between readings. That makes it easier to recognize whether the temperature is stable, gradually increasing or rapidly heading toward financial consequences.

Electronic Stepper-Motor Movement

GlowShift uses stepper-motor technology to move the needle smoothly across the gauge face.

The electronic movement responds to the included temperature sender while retaining the quick-glance readability of a traditional analog display.

Smoked Magnified Lens

The tinted lens gives the gauge a dark, low-profile appearance when it is powered off. When switched on, the LED lighting illuminates the dial and red needle through the smoked surface.

The lens is also magnified to improve visibility across the gauge face.

This is the key visual difference between the Tinted 7 Color and Black 7 Color models:

Feature Tinted 7 Color Black 7 Color
Lens Smoked/tinted Clear
Powered-off appearance Dark and stealthy Dial remains visible
Dial Black Black
Needle Illuminated red Illuminated red
Colors Seven Seven
Temperature range 100–300°F 100–300°F

Seven Selectable LED Colors

Use the front-mounted button to select one of seven solid through-dial lighting colors:

  • Blue
  • Green
  • Red
  • Teal
  • Yellow
  • Purple
  • White

Choose a color that matches the factory dashboard or coordinates with other aftermarket gauges.

Two Color-Cycle Modes

The gauge also includes two automatic color-cycle modes that move through the available colors.

The cycle settings work well for show displays and custom interiors. For nighttime driving, a single solid color will generally be less distracting. Your coolant temperature does not become more accurate because the dashboard is performing a light show.

Color Memory

The gauge remembers the selected illumination setting after the vehicle is turned off.

Once the display is matched to the dashboard, it does not need to be reconfigured at every startup.

30% Nighttime Dimming

Connect the orange dimmer wire to the factory headlight-switch circuit and the gauge will reduce brightness by approximately 30 percent when the headlights are switched on.

This helps reduce nighttime glare while keeping the needle and dial visible.

Compact 2-1/16-Inch Housing

The gauge measures 2-1/16 inches, or 52mm, making it compatible with many:

  • A-pillar gauge pods
  • Dashboard pods
  • In-dash openings
  • Under-dash panels
  • Custom instrument clusters

A gauge visor is included to help reduce glare when the instrument is mounted on the dashboard or in another brightly lit position.

1/8-27 NPT Electronic Sender

The kit includes a matched electronic coolant-temperature sender with 1/8-27 NPT male threads and bullet-style electrical connectors.

Common installation locations include:

  • Factory coolant-sender port
  • Cylinder-head coolant passage
  • Intake-manifold coolant port
  • Thermostat housing
  • Coolant outlet
  • Inline radiator-hose adapter

Not every vehicle uses a 1/8-27 NPT port. A thread adapter or radiator-hose adapter may be required.

Why Install an Aftermarket Coolant Gauge?

Many factory temperature gauges are heavily damped. They may remain near the middle of the display across a surprisingly wide operating range and move toward hot only after the cooling system is already struggling.

An aftermarket water-temperature gauge can help you:

  • Detect abnormal temperature increases
  • Monitor coolant temperature under load
  • Verify electric cooling-fan operation
  • Evaluate radiator and thermostat upgrades
  • Monitor an engine swap
  • Replace an inaccurate factory gauge
  • Diagnose intermittent overheating
  • Track cooling performance in traffic

If high temperatures appear alongside leaks, coolant loss or corrosion, review our guide to the seven signs of a failing radiator.

Installation Notes

Install the sender where it remains in contact with circulating engine coolant.

Before installation:

  1. Let the engine cool completely.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Verify the available coolant-port thread.
  4. Install the appropriate adapter when necessary.
  5. Route wiring through a protected firewall grommet.
  6. Keep wiring away from exhaust components.
  7. Avoid belts, pulleys and cooling fans.
  8. Connect the orange wire to the headlight circuit for dimming.
  9. Bleed trapped air from the cooling system.
  10. Inspect the sender and adapter for leaks.
  11. Test the gauge before driving.

Whenever possible, retain the factory coolant-temperature sensor. The ECU may use it to control fuel delivery, ignition timing, cooling fans and warning lights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature range does the gauge display?

It displays coolant temperature from 100°F to 300°F.

Is this an analog or digital gauge?

It uses an analog needle powered by an electronic stepper motor.

What makes the lens “tinted”?

The smoked lens darkens the gauge face when the instrument is powered off. LED lighting reveals the dial and needle when switched on.

How many lighting colors are available?

The seven solid colors are blue, green, red, teal, yellow, purple and white.

Does the gauge remember the selected color?

Yes. Color memory retains the lighting setting between startups.

Does it dim at night?

Yes. Connecting the orange wire to the factory headlight circuit reduces brightness by approximately 30 percent.

Is the temperature sender included?

Yes. The kit includes a matched 1/8-27 NPT electronic sender.

Will the sender fit every vehicle?

No. Thread sizes vary by vehicle and engine. An adapter may be required.

Does it have an overheating alarm?

No programmable warning is specified for this model. The operator must monitor the analog needle.

Does it include peak recall?

No peak-recall function is specified.

What should I do if the needle continues climbing?

Reduce engine load and pull over safely. Shut the engine off if coolant escapes, steam appears or the reading continues increasing. Never open a hot radiator cap.

Our guide on how to deal with an overheating engine explains the next steps.
