Monroe Max-Air MA705 Air Adjustable Air Shock Absorber Pack of 2 for Ford Mustang

Monroe Max-Air MA705 Air Adjustable Shock Absorbers for Ford Mustang

Rear Air Shocks | Pack of 2 | Pro Street Online

If your Ford Mustang’s rear end squats, sags with passengers, or just doesn’t sit right anymore, the fix doesn’t need to be complicated. The Monroe Max-Air MA705 Air Adjustable Shock Absorbers give you on-demand ride height control and added load support, all while maintaining Monroe’s well-known OE-style ride quality.

This is the classic solution for Mustangs that still see real street duty—and it works for a reason.

  • MAINTAIN RIDE HEIGHT UNDER LOAD — Air chamber can be inflated or deflated up to 150 PSI to maintain level height with additional weight up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity is limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner’s manual)
  • EASY TO ADJUST — Special air fitting resists air leakage and ties into factory system (where applicable) or manually inflates with an air compressor; pair with Monroe air shock accessory and shock air hose AK kits (varies by application)
  • EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING — Full-displaced valving on compression and extension cycles for a smooth ride
  • BUILT TO LAST — Hardened and precision ground piston rod for consistent performance, sintered iron piston for enhanced durability and longer service life and lubricated air sleeve reduces friction for smooth operation
  • CONSISTENT RIDE — OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and help reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction

Why Choose Monroe Max-Air for Your Mustang

Rear suspension sag is common on Mustangs, especially as springs age or when running wider tires, extra cargo, or spirited driving. Max-Air shocks combine traditional gas-charged damping with air-adjustable support, letting you fine-tune rear ride height without swapping springs or overhauling the suspension.

Add air when you need support. Drop it back down when you don’t. Simple.

  • Pair with healthy rear springs and bushings

  • Inspect air lines periodically

Correct setup ensures long service life and predictable handling.

Why Buy Monroe Max-Air from Pro Street Online

At Pro Street Online, we focus on parts that solve real problems without overengineering. The Monroe Max-Air MA705 shocks offer a proven, cost-effective solution for Mustang owners who want improved stance and load support—without sacrificing ride comfort.

Sometimes the simplest upgrade is still the smartest one.

Hardworking vehicles that consistently haul heavy loads or tow trailers can count on Monroe Max-Air air shocks to carry the load. Not just for ride comfort, shocks are necessary for the safe handling of your vehicle. By maintaining vertical loads placed up on the tires, shocks help ensure consistent tire-to-road contact. Shocks also help maintain a balanced ride by providing resistance to vehicle bounce, roll and sway as well as brake dive and acceleration squat.

CAUSES & CONSEQUENCES OF SHOCK FAILURE

Like many parts on your vehicle, shocks are subject to wear. Causes include damaged bushings, exposure to the elements, loss of oil viscosity and deteriorated components. Driving with worn shocks can result in problems ranging from reduced braking efficiency, tire wear, loss of stability and damage to other suspension parts.

Monroe Max Air Shocks Module 5-02

IMPORTANCE OF ALIGNMENT

Always perform an alignment whenever replacement shocks, struts or other ride control parts are installed. Camber, toe and caster settings can all be affected by installing new shocks. Failure to make sure the vehicle’s alignment is within factory specifications can lead to problems like premature tire wear.

Monroe Max Air Shocks Module 5-03

HOW TO CONDUCT A SHOCK INSPECTION

Shocks may not show any visible signs of wear, make sure to request a ride control inspection every time your vehicle is brought in for service to ensure they’re in optimal operating condition. When inspecting a vehicle’s shocks: assess how the vehicle is used and perform ride and physical evaluations. Get an understanding of the vehicle’s repair history, the way the vehicle handles and its intended use for clues if the shocks might need changing. Next, take the vehicle for a test drive to determine whether the vehicle’s steering, stopping and stability are compromised. Wrap up the inspection with a physical examination for symptoms of wear which may indicate new shocks are required.

Monroe Max Air Shocks Module 5-04

IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING RIDE HEIGHT

Proper ride height is crucial to vehicle durability, performance and safety. When inspecting a vehicle, don’t just check the static ride height. The dynamic ride height –the ride height of a vehicle in motion –may tell a different story. The cause of dynamic ride height issues is often worn or damaged coil or air springs, depending on the vehicle suspension. Don’t just replace the shock –be sure to also inspect for and replace worn coil/air springs.

I’ve read the other reviews. The packaging and quality control seems very spotty. Really, more luck of the draw. I came out fine.To be clear, the Monroe Max-Air MA705 is a complete KIT. It is supposed to include two shocks, four bags of mounting hardware(one bag for each shock end), and the air line kit. If you didn’t get all that, something happened in the packaging process. You are not supposed to buy the hardware or the air line kit separately. Again, everything to use the air shocks should be in the box. Some folks have reported leaking shocks. Mine have not budged a fraction of an inch over three days. I would say they don’t leak.I’ve seen posts about these shocks supposed to be white. I’ve looked elsewhere and the shocks are always black. No white shocks anywhere I’ve seen but in the Amazon ad. My shocks are gloss black.I don’t have anything to write on how good the shocks perform from a performance perspective. I have never heard of an air shock having good high performance characteristics, like a Koni or something like that. They perform just fine and do the job. If I was going to the track, I would use a more suitable shock. You use an air shock to keep a car at a certain ride height and they do that pretty good.

Wish I could give it less then one star. At 35 psi it blew apart every fitting on the air line as soon as the car touched the ground.

I installed these on my ’71 Mustang to pick up the rear end slightly and level the car out. They fit perfect, and the plastic air line holders fit in to existing holes perfectly so I did not have to drill any holes or modify the car in any way. The fill valve fit perfectly through an existing hole underneath the rear license plate. I made sure to run the lines where they wound not come into contact with the exhaust or rub on anything. After some experimenting, I was able to lift the rear about 1-1/4 inches with very good ride quality. Some Notes: The shocks come painted black, not white as indicated in the product photo. Also, be careful how you run the airline to the shocks. They do not provide you much extra line. If you make a mistake or damage the line, you will not have enough line to finish the installation.I was pleased with my results and installation

Good quality, case solid, breakaway switch is really strong feels like a magnet holds it securely. Good price. I feel like this unit will las a long time. For the price of the AGM battery I was going to replace my old battery, but this unit was much cheaper in the long run. The solar charger is a plus!!!
