I have been using Fram filters for years, and the XG7317P continues to prove why I stick with this brand. It is well built, threads on smoothly, and feels like a quality filter. Even though it is rated for up to 20,000 miles, I still follow my usual 5,000-mile oil change routine. That schedule has always worked for me, and this filter fits right into it. The price is also a good value for the level of protection you get.Before installing, I always lubricate the rubber gasket. I just put a little fresh oil on my fingertip and run a thin, even layer around the gasket. This helps the filter seat properly, prevents it from sticking when it is time to take it off, and makes it easier to get a clean seal without overtightening.Once installed, my engine runs smooth and consistent, and I have never had issues with leaks or pressure while using these filters. If you want a dependable filter with strong synthetic media at a fair price, this one is an excellent choice.

What do I know about oil filters? Probably not enough!But here is what do know:The most important thing you can do for your engine is CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER FREQUENTLY!!!This is more important than what brand of oil or filter you use.- Don’t wait for the low oil light to come on.- Don’t wait for the oil to turn black.- Don’t try to save money by just changing the oil and not the filter too.In summary:Don’t be an idiot!OK, now that I have that out of the way, let’s talk about the FRAM filter. I have lost count of the hundreds of vehicles and other pieces of equipment that I have changed oil and filters on over the past six decades. Most of these have been done using FRAM filters. Why do I use FRAM? It has to do with availability, affordability, and reliability. I have always been able to find FRAM, and they are always reasonably priced compared to the other brands. Most importantly, I have never had a FRAM filter fail. They fit, they seal, and they do their job filtering the oil. Do I ever ask them to go above and beyond? No, I don’t. That is because I take care of my engines and change the oil and filter when I should. Do I spend a bit more than I need to? Probably, but I make up for it by doing the service myself and not having to overhaul or replace a very pricey engine. But even if you are one of the less handy folks who are forced to take your vehicle into a service center or, worse yet, a stealership, regular oil changes are cheaper than the alternative.TLDR: Take care of your engine and buy FRAM filters!

I use this Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter on my 2015 Subaru Outback, and it’s been one of the best filters I’ve used.🔧 What I Like:• The grip coating is a game changer — makes installation and removal way easier, especially when your hands are slick or you’re working in tight spots.• The filter media quality is top-notch, and it’s rated for 20,000 miles — I don’t push it that far, but I appreciate the peace of mind.• No leaks, no weird noises, and it holds up great with Valvoline Restore & Protect and synthetic oil.⸻✅ Bottom Line:If you’re doing your own oil changes on a Subaru or any vehicle, this filter is 100% worth the few extra bucks. Decent filter, but a 20K lifespan? Not with any of my vehicles. Not sure how that can ever be advertised. If you have contaminants in the oil, it’s going to start clogging regardless of the “20K” and could cause issues. On the flip side, if you have a perfect engine maybe it could last 20K, but the oil itself will have broken down before then.The filter works fine, just not going to last 20K

With everything skyrocketing in prices, I have started subscribing to this well proven oil filter. Yes there are filters with better materials and build quality, but hey you are changing the filter with every oil change, so why bother? The key is following the oil change schedule.

Great filter and very economical
I have been buying these FRAM Ultra Synthetic oil filters for a few years now, as opposed to OEM, and I’m really impressed! Based on my research at the time, the filtration performance is top-notch, providing excellent protection for my engine. It is designed for use with synthetic oils, which gives me peace of mind for longer oil change intervals. In fact I normally change my oil and filter once a year since I do not drive much (e.g. <10k). But the last time around I only changed the oil and left the filter on since it's rated for 20,000 MILES which is ~32,000 KM. The installation is always straightforward, and the build quality feels robust and durable.In the past few years using these on all our vehicles, I did not notice any difference in engine performance compared to OEM. Overall, I can recommend these filters.
